Your life RIGHT NOW is a manifestation of what is going on in your mind and imagination. If you want to reach a level in life that you’ve never reached before, then you’re going to have to think at a level you’ve never thought before. In this post, I’m going to share with you practical ways in which you can change your thinking for the better. 🙂

Want to change your life?

Change your thinking.

So, the big question is “How do I do that?

FIRST, change your thinking by changing what you FEED YOUR MIND #nomnom

If you constantly feed your body junk, then don’t be surprised when you find yourself feeling like trash.

The same goes for your mind. What are you feeding your mind every day? Are you scrolling endlessly on social media? Are you feeding yourself with negativity and pointless memes? Or are you taking the time to FEED your mind with growth-oriented material?

Stand guard at the door of your mind

Our mind is NOT a trash can. So, stop dumping everyone’s trash in there. Your life and purpose are too precious.

When deciding what to pour into your mind, ask yourself these questions.

  1. How is this bettering my life?
  2. Is this productive or destructive?
  3. Is this going to help me become a better version of myself?
  4. Does this help push me towards achieving my goals and purpose?
  5. How is this helping my creativity?
  6. Does this help sharpen my skills?
  7. Is this good use of my time?
  8. Is this helping me grow?

Leaders are readers. Therefore, the most simple way to change your thinking for the better is by changing what you feed your mind.

SECOND, change your thinking by changing who you surround yourself with

Show me your friends, I’ll show you your future.

That is to say, you are the average of the 5 closest people you hang around.

If all five of your closest friends are negative, close-minded, angry, and broke, then trust me when I say, you’ll be the sixth.

So, surround yourself with people with a common future, not just a common past.

Here’s the hard truth, not everyone you start with, will be the ones you finish with.

Change your thinking. Not everyone you start with, will be the ones you finish with

There are several reasons for this.

Sometimes it’s because your values have changed and you’ve grown. Sometimes it’s because your old friends can’t stand to see you win. Regardless of what the reason may be, you have to keep going.

Even though it may not be easy, be wise with your time and who you associate yourself with.

All in all, align yourself with people who share a similar vision, are big thinkers, and can grow with you.

If you’re in a situation where you don’t have a positive circle of influence, then go out there and network and utilize the power of social media. Similarly, there are many gurus and mentors you can find on YouTube, and a community or other ambitious people like yourself on social media.

Go out there and get social.

THIRD, change your thinking by changing your HABITS

Have you ever “tried” to change your habits? You know you should change because you intellectually know it’s the right thing to do. But, deep down, you don’t really want to change (lol I’m speaking from experience).

So, it ends up looking something like this. You’re doing Ah-MAzIng the first week and feeling on top of the world. But, when the second week rolls around, you find yourself back at square one. Sometimes, even worse off than you started. You think, “What the deuce?! I was on a roll..what happened?!”

Well, until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change, you will never change my friend.

In the long run, changing your habits not only starts with a DECISION. But also, is sustained by your WHY.

Certainly, change is a process.

First, start with small changes that will lead to small victories.

Rack those victories up and build up that confidence.

Eventually, you will be able to break the big habits and replace them with better ones.

Progress, not perfection is happiness

HERE ARE SOME CHANGES I STARTED WITH:

  • Develop A Morning Routine
    • For those of us that have afternoons booked with appointments and constantly being around people, waking up earlier and setting time for yourself is essential.
    • When I wake up in the morning, that’s my personal time with God. I pray, read my bible, and set my intentions for that day. This ensures that my cup is full before I go out into the world. 😀
  • Exercise Daily
    • I’m a big believer in getting your health in check. What a tragedy it is when your mind is willing, but your body isn’t.
    • You wouldn’t believe the change you’ll get physically AND mentally when you get into the habit of setting out 20 mins-1 hour daily for your health.
  • Journal Daily
    • If you don’t already do this, then this is a must.
    • Get into the habit of either journaling your goals or writing out your affirmations.
    • You can download my guide of Gratitude Exercises HERE free to help start you off.
  • Focus On Being Solution-Oriented
    • Negative emotions aren’t bad. They’re feedback on how you feel. Instead of REACTING to every situation, get in the habit of RESPONDING.
    • If something triggers a negative emotion, take a step back, and pause.
    • Ask yourself, why am I feeling this way? What is the root of this problem? How is this serving me? What is the purpose of this for my life? How can I make it better? What is the solution?
    • Don’t focus on problems, focus on solutions

FOURTH, MOVE

Learning is important. But, ACTION is REQUIRED.

Indeed, you can have all the knowledge in the world. But, if you don’t do anything about it, then it’s as if you never learned it at all.

How do you know you truly understand something? You take action.

Doubt takes you out of action. ACTION takes you out of doubt.

When you move, GOD moves. There are no lucky people in the world. Instead, there are those who kept going despite tribulations, and because of that, they caught good breaks.

The luckiest people in the world, I bet you, are usually the hardest workers.

With that being said, if there’s a call you need to make, make it now. There’s a project you need to finish, finish it now. That pile of laundry you need to wash, wash it now. (You’re welcome)

In short, MOVE.

Lastly, change your heart..

In this last part, I ask that you read this with an open mind and an open heart.

The heart is the most deceitful of all things. From the heart come evil thoughts like murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander.

So, what we need, is a complete heart transplant. To have a new beginning.

And that comes through a personal relationship with Jesus.

When I was on my journey to becoming a better version of myself, I began to become aware of all my baggage, shortcomings, and flaws. I knew that the change I was looking for was something much bigger than what I could handle myself.

That change happened when I surrendered.

I finally let go of my own understanding, my ego, and my pride. It was in the midst of people praying over me when I said to myself, “God, I can’t do this on my own anymore. I surrender my life to you.”

That was the day I got touched by God and everything changed.

After that day, I began to understand the difference between human knowledge and Godly wisdom.

It may not make sense to you now, but, if you’re reading this and you feel your heart being pulled..just say yes.

Pray a simple prayer to welcome Jesus into your heart, wash you clean, and for His Spirit to work in your life. I promise you, you won’t go wrong.

In closing, change starts from within.

Not only mentally but also, spiritually. Whether you believe or not, one thing remains true..and that’s the fact that you are HERE right now and you were created for a purpose.

My hopes are that these suggestions will help you on your journey to changing your thinking which ultimately, will change your life. 🙂

Much Love,

AK
